The Pitch

Sleep disorders are among the most common yet underdiagnosed medical conditions worldwide. Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) alone affects an estimated 1.5 billion people globally (Benjafield et al., 2019, Lancet Respiratory Medicine) and is associated with cardiovascular disease, metabolic disorders, reduced cognitive performance and diminished quality of life. OSA is inherently a dynamic and longitudinal disease, but current diagnostic pathways, the polysomnography, rely on intrusive, single-night hospital exams that disrupt natural sleep, misguiding diagnosis and leading to poorly informed treatment decisions in nearly one in three OSA patients.

Polygraphy, a lower-cost alternative frequently used in practice for single-night home monitoring, captures fewer physiological signals and offer reduced diagnostic accuracy with an estimated 1 in 2 patients with OSA being misdiagnosed (Escourrou et al., 2015, J Sleep Res.; Lechat et al., 2022, Am J Respir Crit Care Med.).

As healthcare systems face increasing demand while seeking to optimise resources, there is a growing need for scalable solutions that enable clinicians to make better-informed decisions without compromising diagnostic quality.

The Solution

UNDAE is rethinking the entire decision process around sleep disorders with Noctae, a home-based and unobtrusive sleep intelligence platform that captures the complexity of sleep over days, rather than a single night. By continuously analyzing hundreds of physiological, lifestyle, and environmental signals, Noctae identifies true sleep disorder severity and provides actionable insights for clinicians.

This enables more accurate diagnosis, personalized treatment decisions, and continuous monitoring of therapy effectiveness.

UNDAE’s solution integrates a non-intrusive over-mattress device with embedded sensors and a connected hub that continuously captures both physiological signals and environmental factors affecting sleep. These objective data streams, together with subjective feedback and lifestyle information collected through a mobile application, feed an AI-powered SaaS platform designed to generate longitudinal insights and support clinical decision-making.

Traction & Proof of Concept

UNDAE has secured more than CHF 1.2M in non-dilutive funding from organizations including Innosuisse, FIT and other innovation Swiss institutions, providing strong external validation of both the technology and the team. Noctae has been scientifically validated on more than 100 volunteers, including patients, against polysomnography.

The company collaborates closely with leading Swiss sleep centers, including CHUV Lausanne and CENAS Geneva, and is supported by renowned sleep medicine experts such as Prof. Raphaël Heinzer and Prof. Paul Franken. A scientific publication on Noctae's performance is currently in preparation, further strengthening the company's clinical credibility and visibility within the sleep medicine community. UNDAE also has the support of Switzerland’s five largest sleep centers, together handling roughly two-thirds of all national sleep consultations, with 12 LOIs confirming strong early adoption potential.

Beyond sleep medicine, the underlying technology may also be applicable to scientific research, elite sports, longevity and wellness programmes, which will increase the platform's long-term commercial reach.

Backed by Experienced Investors

UNDAE has already secured CHF 750’000 through convertible loan agreements from a select group of experienced private investors.

These investors bring expertise from sleep medicine, MedTech, venture capital, private equity and international business. Among them are a Swiss family office operating a leading sleep clinic in Switzerland, the founder of an international medical equipment company, and an experienced DeepTech venture capital partner investing in a personal capacity.

Their early commitment goes beyond financial support. It reflects confidence in UNDAE’s technology, team and long-term vision and provides valuable strategic expertise as well as industry insight as the company advances towards commercialization.

What investors say

I first met Shanaz Diessler, UNDAE Science's CEO, in 2020, when the project existed only on paper. From our very first conversations, I recognized the exceptional potential of the technology and the impact it could have on one of today's most pressing public health challenges: sleep.

What convinced me to invest early was not only the strength of the science and the proof of concept already achieved, but the quality of the team behind it: deep expertise, a strong international network, a clear execution strategy, and a technology built to scale.

As UNDAE Science's first investor, Salu remains just as convinced today.

For nearly thirty years, I worked as an international distributor of medical technology products. Throughout those years, I was frequently presented with investment opportunities in industries I knew well. Although some of these projects appeared highly promising, none ever convinced me to become an investor.

So why did I decide to invest in UNDAE Science's Noctae project? First, because Noctae is a truly groundbreaking technology born from neuroscience and addresses an enormous global market. I was also impressed by the fact that Undae Science's research and development efforts are based on a highly structured roadmap, with clearly defined milestones that have consistently met expectations.

Business Model

UNDAE is a MedTech combining hardware platform with software-enabled recurring revenues.

Healthcare providers access the Noctae system through a capacity-allocation model that aims to reduce staffing requirements, eliminate consumables and improve patient throughput compared with conventional sleep laboratory procedures.

The business model is structured around two complementary revenue streams, both recurring in nature. The device is offered in a renting model at CHF 300/analysis, representing a first conservative pricing hypothesis aligned with reimbursement assumptions. For private centers, the device can also be commercialized at a CHF 8'000 upfront purchase price, combined with a CHF 3'000 annual recurring revenue (SaaS) for software, analytics, and platform services.

In both cases, rental or purchase, the economic model is fundamentally recurring, driven by continuous software services, data processing, and platform usage rather than one-off hardware sales.

As UNDAE expands into additional market segments, it expects to leverage the same underlying sensing technology while adapting software and user interfaces for different customer groups.

Market Opportunity

Sleep medicine represents an attractive and growing healthcare segment. UNDAE's initial commercial focus is obstructive sleep apnea diagnostics, with the longer-term ambition of expanding into broader sleep disorders and adjacent applications.

Approximately 100’000 patients are treated annually through Swiss sleep centres, with around 60% referred for suspected OSA. Based on an assumed monitoring fee of CHF 300 per patient analysis, the company estimates an addressable Swiss market of approximately CHF 18M per year within its initial target segment of sleep centres. Applying the same use-case assumptions to sleep-centre-based care pathways in Europe and the United States results in an estimated market opportunity of approximately CHF 1.6 billion annually.

Beyond sleep medicine, the underlying technology may also be applicable to scientific research, elite sports, longevity and wellness programmes, potentially increasing the platform's long-term commercial reach.

Competitive Advantage

Capturing what others miss

Combines longitudinal monitoring over multiple nights with clinically relevant physiological measurements in the patient's natural environment, capturing the true dynamics and severity of sleep disorders over time.

Expanding beyond Obstrusive Sleep Apnea

UNDAE starts with OSA as the entry market, but Noctae is designed to identify, monitor, and manage comorbidities and a broad range of sleep and other health disorders on the same platform.

Turning data into decisions

Sleep data are highly complex and difficult to interpret longitudinally, leaving clinicians without tools to fully leverage this information. Noctae transforms complex longitudinal sleep data into actionable sleep phenotypes and decision-support insights that improve diagnosis, treatment selection, and disease monitoring.

By 2029, Noctae will initially target sleep centers and clinicians diagnosing sleep-related breathing disorders, including pulmonologists, neurologists, ENT specialists, cardiologists, and private sleep clinics, integrating seamlessly into existing care pathways. The platform will then expand in 2031 into broader medical applications to address OSA-related comorbidities, insomnia, cardiovascular risk assessment, and preventive healthcare through continuous, longitudinal sleep monitoring.

In parallel, beginning in mid-2027 and progressing alongside the medical regulatory pathway, Noctae will accelerate commercialization in lower-regulation markets such as elite sports, longevity, and research, leveraging the same hardware with adapted software to generate early revenue, real-world data, and platform validation.

Initial rollout will focus on Switzerland and Europe before expanding to North America and Asia.

Clinical adoption will be supported through pilot studies, reimbursement evidence, and collaborations with leading sleep experts and healthcare providers, reducing regulatory risk and ensuring strong market fit.
