Around 300M people live with conditions that affect the visual field, such as glaucoma and retina diseases like age-related macular degeneration. Visual field tests are essential to diagnose and monitor these conditions, but today they take 15-30 minutes, need a dark room, a trained assistant and a stationary device costing up to CHF 40K.

At the same time, the number of patients grows faster than the number of eye care professionals. In the US alone an estimated ~30K eye doctors and technicians are missing. Patients wait, tests are skipped, and eyesight is lost.

The Solution - Making Eye Testing Simple for Patients and Doctors

PeriVision developed VisionOne™, a portable visual field testing platform built on a standard VR headset and proprietary AI test algorithms developed with the University of Bern and University Hospital Bern (Inselspital). Patients take the test seated anywhere in the clinic, guided by a virtual assistant. Clinics gain reliable results, free up rooms and staff, and can see more patients.

VisionOne™ tests the visual field to diagnose and monitor conditions such as glaucoma, retina diseases or the consequences of a stroke. The doctor configures the test on a cloud platform; the patient puts on a lightweight VR headset and a virtual assistant guides them through the test in their native language. The patented SORS algorithm shortens the test by 60-70% compared with conventional strategies, and results appear on the doctor's dashboard with reliability indicators and progression over time.

Since then, we have made significant progress:

Commercialization: In total, PeriVision sold 140+ VisionOne™ systems, 70+ of them installed, and customers perform 2-3K exams each month on the platform. Revenue grew 62% in 2025, and the CHF 303K until Q3 2026 already exceeds full-year 2025. This translated into multiple installs across markets, including winning a competitive public hospital tender for 10 systems in Spain. In the US, the company launched a strategic partnership with VEO Ophthalmics. Overall, 13 strategic distribution partners with ~150 sales representatives attending ~100 conferences a year function as the primary go-to-market channel.
Funding / awards: To date, the company raised CHF 6.2M (60% non-dilutive), including a CHF 2.4M seed round led by Arya VC in 2025. In spring 2026, it was awarded a CHF 125K AI research grant from Swiss Data Science Center (SDSC) as 1 of 4 awarded startups (out of 57 applications). It also won 2 first prizes at Swiss Startup Nights 2025 and was recognized among Top 100 Swiss Startup (rank 49).
Regulatory certifications: PeriVision achieved the ISO-13485 certification for its quality management system in December 2025 and subsequently the EU CE-certification for its new VisionOne™ VFT version as proprietary legal manufacturer in June 2026, adding to product registrations in the UK and US.
Product development: The new VisionOne™ software release included several high value-add features improving accuracy and reliability further, e.g. a virtual bowl perimetry, an adaptive stimulus sizing and timing, and an expanded normative database. The company also invested in cyber-security initiatives and an improved architecture suitable for commercial scaling.
Clinical validation in glaucoma and retina: A large validation study with the Inselspital Bern (published in Ophthalmology Science) demonstrated industry-leading correlation (ρ = 0.97 ) to the gold standard systems across all glaucoma stages (early to advanced). Together with the Inselspital Bern, PeriVision also develops a new eye test for retina diseases like age-related macular degeneration or geographic atrophy, affecting around 200M patients globally. Initial results show strong alignment with existing diagnostic methods and superior patient compliance.

PeriVision won both the healthtech pitch and the public voting pitch at Startup Nights.

Business Model

VisionOne™ lets eye doctors test faster and more efficiently, see more patients and generate more revenue. Based on a market survey, US eye doctors clinics expect a 21-30% uplift in patient volume, and the efficient workflow saves an CHF 40-50K compared to a legacy setup with a dedicated room and assistant. On top, visual field tests are reimbursed under existing codes across the key markets.

PeriVision makes money by selling its system consisting of the VR headset and software licenses in three pricing models. 80-90% of revenue is generated through 13 strategic distribution partners, which receive a discount on license list prices. Even after this distributor discount, each system sold generates a solid gross profit for PeriVision - in 2025 the gross margin was 90%.

The financial plan targets revenue of CHF 2.2M and an installed base of 663 units by 2028, with a total investment need of CHF 2.1M (peak funding need) until the end of 2028, and EBITDA improving from 2027 as the installed base grows.

Large Global Market with Structural Growth Drivers

Around 300M people worldwide live with conditions that affect the visual field, such as glaucoma and retina diseases like age-related macular degeneration or geographic atrophy. Ageing populations will increase the patient populations, while the supply of eye doctors and qualified technicians does not keep pace. PeriVision focuses on ophthalmology clinics in the US and Europe, where 172K ophthalmologists and optometrists form an addressable market of approximately USD 315M for VisionOne™ licences and software upgrades. Neurology / neuro-ophthalmology add a further USD 57M as a later segment.

What Comes Next

This pre-series A CLA round finances the next crucial milestones and bridge to the next equity round:

Electronic health records (EHR) integrations: integration is a priority, as it is required by large clinic chains to roll a new device out across hundreds of sites. This is key to connect VisionOne™ results with existing patient records. We will work with contract software engineers to build an interface to display results in the main health-record formats (e.g. FHIR, HL7, DICOM). The key steps are mapped, initial partners identified, and completion is planned in Q1 2027.
Development of AI prognosis tool OftaPro: The product development of OftaPro is another key focus of PeriVision. OftaPro is our AI-based glaucoma progression prediction, co-funded by the SDSC grant. First revenues are planned for 2028.
Commercial execution in the EU and the US: Delivery of the Spanish hospital tender, support of 13 distribution partners and conversion of large-account leads in the EU (e.g. Sanoptis) and US (e.g. Eye Care Partners).
Clinical evidence: We are also currently working on multi-center clinical studies to expand our technology to even more eye diseases. First read-out for our new test in retina diseases are expected in Q1 2027, a head-to-head study with the Humphrey Field Analyzer in glaucoma in Q2 2027.
Hardware transition: We will change to the next-generation VR headset in Q1 2027. The transition is driven by the end of life of the current headset and but also substantially better devices available on the markte with lower weight, higher patient comfort, strong eye tracking features, higher screen resolution and better lenses for ophthalmology use cases.

Exit strategy: At the core of the platform lies intellectual property developed with the University of Bern and Inselspital - the patented SORS algorithm (granted in Europe and the US), international (PCT) patent applications on stimulus modulation and FIPR, AI trade secrets and an exclusive longitudinal patient dataset from Inselspital. As we de-risk the platform clinically and commercially, we see PeriVision as an attractive acquisition target for an ophthalmology incumbent seeking a differentiated VR platform - protected by patents, trade secrets and exclusive datasets - the route by which we expect our investors to realize a return.

A convertible loan is not a share purchase: you lend money to PeriVision SA, and the loan converts into participation certificates at the next qualifying equity financing round - at a 10% or 20% discount (depending on the campaign phase) to the price paid by the new investors, and at a price no higher than that implied by the CHF 12.3M valuation cap. Until conversion, you are a lender, not a shareholder.

In PeriVision, you join a group of experienced investors: medtech venture capital firms ARYA VC, DART Ventures and Zühlke Ventures, angel investors from MEDKAP and SICTIC, family offices such as INATEC and the Juchum Foundation, and the business angels who invested via OOMNIUM in 2025. Financial disclaimer: PeriVision is loss-making (net loss of CHF 1.24M in 2025). In 2026 the Board of Directors identified over-indebtedness under Art. 725b of the Swiss Code of Obligations after a committed CHF 0.8M investment committed in the 2025 seed round was not made. The Board subordinated CHF 403K loans and interest, reduced the team to its core and put a liquidity plan in place while active financing negotiations are ongoing. Closing a financing round is the primary path to resolving this position.

Our Team

PeriVision brings together people with very different backgrounds - AI research, clinical ophthalmology, strategy consulting and medtech sales. We share a strong drive for impact and work closely with patients and eye doctors, testing our product in leading clinics. In 2026 we made a deliberate choice to run PeriVision with a lean core team to protect our runway, while we close this financing round. Contract software engineers maintain the product and build the EHR integrations during this bridge period. Our plan rebuilds in-house engineering capacity once the full round closes in 2027.
