This isn't your average bike company. Since 2002, Transalpes has been crafting top-tier mountain bikes from the heart of Switzerland. Their secret sauce? A blend of Swiss precision, relentless innovation, and an unquenchable thirst for trail perfection.
In a world where every gram counts, Transalpes has just unveiled the game-changer: the E3. Presented at Eurobike 2025, it's not just the lightest full-power E-MTB globally—it's a testament to what happens when passion meets cutting-edge tech.
But how did they pull off this feat? And what's next for this trailblazing company? We sat down with Michel Juhasz, the mastermind behind Transalpes, to dive into the tech, the trials, and the triumphs.
OOMNIUM: Michel, Transalpes has been crafting top-tier mountain bikes since 2002. What sparked your vision to start the company, and what keeps your passion burning?
Michel Juhasz: It all started with a deep love for mountain biking and a desire to create something exceptional. Switzerland, home to legends like Nino Schurter and Jolanda Neff, was the perfect playground. The passion stays alive thanks to constant innovation, pushing boundaries, and seeing our bikes perform at the highest levels.
OOMNIUM: The Transalpes E3, presented at Eurobike 2025, is said to be the lightest full-power E-MTB in the world. Can you share the tech advancements that made this possible?
M.J.: Our new carbon frame platform is over 30% lighter than competitors', and the Maxon motor, at just 2.0 kg, is the lightest and most efficient out there. Add our expertise in custom bike building, and you've got a trail-ready E-MTB under 15 kg.
OOMNIUM: You've collaborated with Maxon, a company that builds motors for Mars rovers. How did this partnership happen, and how has it shaped your bike development?
M.J.: Maxon, like Transalpes, is a Swiss company rooted in precision and collaboration. Our shared passion for biking and close proximity have led to a partnership that's pushing the boundaries of what's possible in bike development.
OOMNIUM: Transalpes is known for Swiss craftsmanship and innovation. How do you balance quality and handmade precision with the need to scale your business?
M.J.: Our new carbon frames are a great example. In our current Series 3, one frame platform serves both mountain bikes and E-MTBs, working exceptionally well and looking fantastic. With Maxon's Bikedrive Air, our E-MTBs are slimmer than most competitor bikes, showcasing our commitment to quality and innovation as we scale.
OOMNIUM: With the successful pre-sale and upcoming investment round, what plans do you have for the raised funds? How will this capital fuel Transalpes’ growth and innovation?
M.J.: The funds will go towards expanding in Switzerland and enhancing Swissness at Transalpes. With Maxon and other local partners, we plan to develop the next generation of our bikes, solidifying our position as industry leaders.
