OOMNIUM is opening up access to the venture capital market to significantly more investors. "Today's startups are the economy of the future," says Leandro Davies, CEO and Co-Founder of OOMNIUM. "This gives you the opportunity to help shape the economy of tomorrow through direct startup investments." The platform connects private investors, business angels and young companies on a digital infrastructure.
In contrast to traditional stock market investments, capital flows directly into the companies. "Buying shares on the stock exchange is a secondary market," explains Davies. "With OOMNIUM, on the other hand, 100 percent of the invested capital flows directly into the company." This creates an immediate effect for growth and innovation. Investors do not participate indirectly, but contribute concretely to development.
From blockchain events to platform strategy
The idea originated around 2017 in connection with the blockchain movement. "Investing took on a completely new facet with blockchain technology," Davies recalls. "That was the spark for us." The founding team had their first points of contact through the "Blockchain Culture" event series, with which they wanted to bring the potential of the technology closer to a broad public. Out of this environment, the idea for their own platform gradually developed.
From the very beginning, the goal was to transfer these new possibilities into a secure regulatory framework and make them more widely accessible. After the successful start, however, there was a need for optimization. "We realized that we were not doing justice to the entire market with the original model," says Davies. Especially the early-stage and B2B sectors remained underrepresented. This realization led to a strategic realignment towards a more comprehensive investment platform.
An important milestone was the launch in 2023. OOMNIUM went live with four strong cases at the same time: "We deliberately took our time and timed the launch so that all four companies went live at the same time," explains Davies. This generated a great deal of attention and sent a clear signal to the market.
Large investor base as key to growth
A central success factor: around 15,000 investors are already actively using the platform. "We have built up a large investor base over the last few years," explains Davies. Some of them invest regularly and pursue a long-term strategy in building their own portfolio.
This is about financial returns, but not only: "Many of our investors want to make an investment that also makes social sense," says Davies. This understanding of "investment for good" is becoming increasingly important and is shaping the selection of projects.
The focus is clearly on the future. "We want to actively help shape the Swiss market," says Davies. More financing rounds are planned, as well as additional offers such as a digital angel club. This is intended to further simplify access to the venture capital market and establish it in the long term.
